“I've always loved animals, as far back as I can remember. When I was a kid I dreamed of
one day opening a 'pet shop'.
One of my first artistic endeavors fresh out of design school was to create a series of images of Canada to put on T-shirts. I drew the strongest archetypes but the one that people seemed to connect with the most was the Husky image. (Tetro´s first pet was a Husky named Nikki.)
A few years later I moved from Canada to Miami and it was then that I was asked to do a painting to hang on the set of the TV show Friends. The media attention I received propelled me to pursue drawing more dogs.
I joined the HSGM as a contributor in 2002, when they asked me to draw the image that would go on the cover of their magazine and would be used as the Christmas card that year. I continue to have a wonderful relationship with them and have created the poster for their annual Walk for the Animals at Bayfront Park ever since. I encourage you to participate in this kind of events and art auctions to help the groups financially. We donated over a 1000 prints last year. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to help out. However, the most important way people can really contribute is by adopting animals from animal shelters. “There are no animals more appreciative than shelter animals.”
